Signagi

Signagi is a picturesque town in eastern Georgia, located in the Kakheti region. It was founded in the 18th century by King Erekle II as a fortified town to protect the area from invasions. Surrounded by defensive walls with watchtowers, Sighnaghi became an important trading center and a safe haven for local residents. Today, it is famous for its well‑preserved architecture, cobblestone streets, panoramic views of the Alazani Valley, and vibrant wine culture.

Bodbe Monastery Just a few kilometers from Signagi lies Bodbe Monastery, one of Georgia’s most sacred sites. It was originally built in the 9th century and is dedicated to Saint Nino, the woman who brought Christianity to Georgia in the 4th century. According to tradition, Saint Nino is buried here, making Bodbe a major pilgrimage destination. Over the centuries, the monastery has been renovated and expanded, and it remains an active convent and spiritual center, surrounded by beautiful gardens and serene landscapes.
